Manukau Heads Lighthouse is managed by a Trust on behalf of the Awhitu community and for all New Zealanders and visitors.

The work of the Trust encompasses both maintenance and marketing with the aim of attracting visitor donations to help defray annual costs of around $10,000. While much of the maintenance, like indigenous planting, is achieved voluntarily paid trades people are frequently employed.
